IPL General Questions and Answers

What is IPL treatment?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments are a non-invasive medical technology which uses light therapy in the treatment of the following:-

  • Permanent hair reduction
  • Rejuvenation (facial)
  • Pigmentation reduction
  • Reduction of sun spots
  • Capillary vascular reduction
  • Acne treatments
Initial IPL consultations are FREE

This includes establishing client suitability, the client being comfortable with the process, understanding the advantages and disadvantages, precautions to take, and test patching. Test patching enables you to experience our IPL without a full treatment. As you would expect there is absolutely no obligation after the consultation process. 3. Does it hurt? With our modern state of the art machine there is minimal discomfort. Other treatments such as waxing are 3 to 4 times as painful. With IPL all you may feel is a slight pinch or heating sensation.

Why our treatments are less painful.

Our machine cools the treating head down to a chilly -4 degrees Celsius. This acts as a coolant to the skin, minimising any potential discomfort.

NuYu practitioner’s certification and accreditation

Here at NuYu our IPL practitioners have successfully completed extensive studies in Advanced Skin Sciences, and completed the Fleming Institute based government accreditation IPL Clinical Application and Safety Course 30654QLD. We are committed to ongoing study; our aim is to be the Best and Safest in the field of IPL.

After your treatment

You may experience some short-term effects of your IPL treatment. This may include slight reddening of the skin or localised swelling which will go within a few hours. You will be given post-treatment care instructions.

Any restrictions or down-time after an IPL treatment?

You can return to work after your IPL treatment and resume regular activities. Treated areas must be kept protected from the sun for six weeks after treatment.

How many IPL treatments are required?

For treatments targeting permanent hair reduction an average of 6 to 8 treatments are usually required – however some people may need more, whilst others may need less. This also applies to other treatments as well. Rejuvenation on average requires 3 to 5 sessions. Pigmentation and sun spot reduction average 4 to 6 visits. Capillary and vein reduction require up to 5 treatments.
